eBay will add "Item Specifics" to Laptops and Desktops for both PC and Apple products in the Computers categories. Item Specifics is an eBay feature that allows sellers to provide additional details about an item during the selling process. Buyers can then search using these item details, in addition to regular Title search and Description Search.
PC Desktop sellers will be able to distinguish their offerings by details such as Brand, Chip Type, Processor Speed, Memory (RAM), Hard Drive Capacity, Primary Drive, Bundled Items, and Condition.
PC Laptop sellers will be able to select details such as Brand, Chip Type, Processor Speed, Memory (RAM), Hard Drive Capacity, Screen Size, Operating System Included, Primary Drive, and Condition.
Apple Desktop sellers will be able to select details such as Product Family, Processor Type (Single, Dual), Processor Speed, Operating System, Memory (RAM), Hard Drive Capacity, Screen Size, and Condition.
Lastly, Apple Laptop sellers will be able select details such as Product Family, Processor Speed, Operating System, Memory(RAM), Hard Drive Capacity, Screen Size, and Condition.
eBay has already launched or announced plans to launch Item Specifics in other categories, including Pottery & Glass; Women's Clothing, Shoes & Accessories; Music; and Movies. The pilot program for Item Specifics launched in the Tickets categories in December 2001.
