Beware of New Hoax Email Targeting eBay Users
By Ina Steiner
EcommerceBytes.com
March 04, 2004

eBay buyers and sellers report they are receiving "Ask seller a question" emails from eBay that don't related to their auctions. The email looks like it comes from a seller answering a bidder's question about shipping on an eBay auction.

The emails include the name, price and auction number and include something like the following:

Hi, please add another $15 for shipping to NEW MEXICO.
xxxx@xxx.com wrote:
Hello, what is the shipping cost to PENNSYLVANIA?

The emails may be an attempt to obtain users email addresses. All email account holders should be wary as many emails are disguised in attempts to spread viruses or trick recipients into giving away personal and financial information.

You may quote up to 50 words of any article on the condition that you attribute the article to EcommerceBytes.com and either link to the original article or to www.EcommerceBytes.com.
All other use is prohibited.
