eBay Users Again Gripe about Glitches

eBay users complain they've been experiencing problems selling and bidding on the auction site, and are having problems viewing "About Me" pages. Sellers report issues with revising and relisting auctions. On Sunday, users had a problem viewing items, My eBay and listing pages.

A message on eBay's Announcement Board acknowledges a 47-minute problem on Sunday: "From 14:25 to 15:12 PST, members may have experienced intermittent site issues when attempting to access View Item, My eBay and Listing pages. We have resolved this issue."

A review of the technical-issues board also reveals problems relating to issues like spyware and software compatibility. Whether problems stem from users' configurations or eBay glitches, many users complain they don't get adequate customer service from eBay. Often board participants try to help each other out and exchange tips, like getting rid of spyware from their computers.

"eBay has some serious tech issues, and has continued to have problems at random intervals since summer of 2003," said one poster on the board. "Tech support has become nothing more than mechanical email that conveniently goes to no human being whatsoever."

AuctionBytes previously reported on numerous complaints of glitches on eBay last fall affecting bidding, listing, disappearing blocked-bidder lists, feedback, end-of-auction notices, outbid notices and search indexing problems.

Back on November 22, eBay did maintenance on the "Account Status" feature. After that, many sellers' "Blocked Bidders" lists mysteriously disappeared. In a case of deja-vu, members reported eBay lost their "Favorite Searches" yesterday, with no acknowledgement of a problem from eBay.
