eBay will restructure the Music category and Clothing Shoes & Accessories category in the coming days. eBay will eliminate many lower levels of the structure in these categories as it pushes users to adopt Item Specifics, a feature that allows sellers to provide additional details in pre-determined fields. Buyers can then search using these item details, in addition to regular Title search and Description Search. In the Music category, for example, shoppers can search by album type, genre, condition and minimum and maximum price.

Some category numbers will be going away, and sellers may need to update listings to reflect the new structure before they launch them to eBay. The Clothing, Shoes and Accessories team will host a workshop on March 22 to discuss these category changes and provide more helpful information about Item Specifics.
