DotComGuy Auctions Internationally Known Trademark
By Ina Steiner

March 17, 2004

The registered trademark, DotComGuy(R) and the domain name registration dotcomguy.com, will be offered for sale through an auction at http://www.dotcomguy.com.

Four years ago, DotComGuy(R), borne Mitch Maddox, gained worldwide attention by moving into an empty two-bedroom house in Dallas, planning to live entirely off the Internet. Before moving in, Mitch legally changed his name to DotComGuy(R). Transformed from "average Joe" to Internet-guru, DotComGuy(R) became an Internet cyber-celebrity, ushering in the current reality-show craze. DotComGuy(R) succeeded in his mission - never leaving the house for the entire year. DotComGuy(R) achieved incredible media attention, with more than one billion media impressions in less than three months.

DotComGuy(R) is ready to close this chapter of his life and quietly ride off into the sunset as Mitch Maddox once again. Next week, DotComGuy(R) will legally change his name back to Mitch Maddox at a Dallas courthouse. He is married now, and he and his wife plan to take an around-the-world honeymoon as Mr. and Mrs. Mitch Maddox. (His wife is very happy to not be known as Mrs. DotComGuy(R)!)
