Within the next few days, eBay will roll up the Book category by eliminating lower levels of the existing category structure. Category rollups are part of an initiative to implement "Item Specifics," a way for buyers to search by product attribute.

In the Books & Magazines categories, sellers who list books & magazine items will need to use only the following categories to list once this change takes place:
Books > Antiquarian & Collectible (id# 29223)
Books > Audiobooks (id# 14878)
Books > Catalogs (id# 616)
Books > Children's Books (id# 279)
Books > Education & Textbooks (id# 2228)
Books > Fiction & Literature Books (id# 377)
Books > Magazine Back Issues (id# 280)
Books > Nonfiction Books (id# 378)
The magazine subscriptions, wholesale, and book accessories categories will retain their current structure.

eBay also announced it will begin restricting the number of posts that members with low feedback scores can make on its Discussion boards. The reason it gave was "to preserve the health and vibrancy of eBay’s online communities." User IDs with feedback scores under 10 can post up to 10 times within Discussion boards and 10 times within Chat boards in a day. There will be no limits on the use of eBay Groups and the Answer Center. Some members create a special User ID just for posting messages to protect their privacy. eBay's announcement said, however, "Just as member feedback reputations are critical in building and maintaining trust in the eBay marketplace, this type of transparency is also an important factor in sustaining positive communities."
