eBay said it will introduce Item Specifics in the following Car Electronics categories: Amplifiers, In-Dash Receivers, Subwoofers, and Speakers. Item Specifics is an eBay feature that allows sellers to provide additional item details during the selling process. Buyers can then search using these item details, in addition to regular Title search and Description Search.

Item Specifics has been a hot topic among some eBay sellers, particularly in categories where eBay has initiated "rollups," as in Books, DVDs & Movies and Music. Many long-time sellers believe shoppers find their items by browsing categories, drilling down into "mysteries," for example. With Item Specifics, shoppers must use pull-down menus on the left navigation bar to search by fields like "genre."
