eBay has added more shipping options for sellers listing their items through the Sell Your Item form. Sellers can select up to three shipping services (such as USPS Media Mail, UPS Ground, etc.), designating either a flat rate or using calculated shipping for each. Buyers then can choose the desired shipping method while paying for the item. This is currently available to sellers listing through the SYI form. eBay selling tools, including Turbo Lister, will support this enhancement beginning in mid-May.
But some sellers are reporting a problem with the Shipping field in their eBay listings. After listing an item, the shipping field changes, and displays in bright green letters the word "Free." Several eBay boards have discussions about the problem, including sellers who say they are in disputes with buyers over the problem and are trying to convince buyers that they must pay shipping. Sellers began noticing the problem as early as Wednesday. Despite seller communication with eBay customer support, the company had yet to report the problem on its Announcement Board as of Thursday evening.
Sellers are also complaining that eBay's acknowledged billing glitches have yet to be resolved. eBay announced the billing snafu on its board 2 weeks ago .
eBay also said next week it will be introduce Item Specifics in the Televisions category. Item Specifics is an eBay feature that allows sellers to provide additional item details during the selling process. Buyers can then search using these item details, in addition to regular Title search and Description Search, thus finding these items more quickly and easily.
TV Item specifics will include such attributes as TV Type, Display Technology, Screen Size, Brand, High Definition, Widescreen, and Condition, depending on the TV being sold. Sellers can choose to include Item Specifics in their listing or not, and buyers can choose whether or not to search for these details.
