eBay said it will send losing bidders a "recommended email" immediately after the listing has ended to help buyers find items they are interested in more quickly and easily. The emails are highly controversial among some sellers, who see them as auction interference by eBay. The emails contain links to "similar items," including those from competing sellers. While sellers can opt-out of having their auctions included in the emails, they cannot opt out of having their losing bidders sent the emails containing links to competitors' auctions.
Previously, eBay sent the recommended emails a set time after the listing had ended. Now, it has improved the logic to show buyers more relevant items, and will send the emails right after the original listing has ended.
In other news, eBay announced it would be making changes to URLs for eBay search result pages in order to make them more easily recognizable by third-party search engines.
