Music producer Quincy Jones' latest non-profit project, "We Are the Future," is running auctions on eBay to help raise money to build Child Centers in war-torn communities, providing nutrition, vaccines, and basic healthcare. A series of auctions, which includes one for "Lunch for you and a friend with Quincy Jones at the Bel-Air Hotel in Bel-Air, California," will run from May 15 through June 3.
Kompolt is managing the auction including the eBay About Me Page, the listing pages, photography, bidder pre-qualification, item fulfillment and payments. Kompolt was founded by two former eBay employees, Jenny Kompolt and Melissa James.
"We’ll have approximately 60 items and experiences ranging from signed movie scripts and posters to some very nice jewelry, very rare studio tours, experiences with celebrities, signed musical instruments, couture apparel and accessories, a costume worn in a recent film by a very prominent young star and most importantly a number of items from the concert itself in Rome," said Jerry Lindberg, Kompolt's VP of Operations. "The first major auction wave will launch on Saturday the 15 to take advantage of the world wide promotion for the concert on Sunday the 16."
The "We Are the Future" campaign is the collective dream of Quincy Jones' Listen Up Foundation; The Glocal Forum, the nonprofit organization designing and implementing "We Are the Future" programs and founded by chief Oslo Peace Accords negotiator Uri Savir; the City of Rome, led by Mayor Walter Veltroni; and visionary leader for peace Hani Masri. Together in a strategic partnership with the World Bank and its president James Wolfensohn, the "We Are the Future" co-founders are working to improve the lives of children victimized by conflict.
