Reading AuctionBytes: New Company to Offer eBay Seminars in 15 Cities

eKnowledge Institute will offer the 2004 eBay Experience Seminar Tour in what it says is the first independent national seminar series that instructs individuals how to use and profit on eBay. eKnowledge Institute is not owned or sponsored by or affiliated with eBay, which runs about 30 "eBay University" seminars of its own each year.

"We created our eBay Seminar Tour to meet the growing demand for eBay training," said Paul Berger, CEO of eKI. "Our relationship with McGraw-Hill will allow us to produce the highest quality training materials from leading eBay authorities."

The eBay Seminar Tour kicks off June 12 at the Kansas City Convention Center and continues across the country to more than fifteen cities including Atlanta, Houston, Philadelphia and St. Louis. eKI's eBay Seminar Tour features eKI's eBay Academy, an interactive seminar that explains simply and easily how to buy and sell nearly anything on eBay and eKI's eBay Business School that empowers individuals and businesses to make money using eBay.

The Tour's speakers include eBay and retailing experts, including Jill Finlayson, the former Toys, Crafts and Hobbies Category Manager at eBay; Alex Holderness, former eBay employee in charge of launching eBay motors and eBay travel; and retail expert Bill DeVries, the former president of Foot Locker stores.

eBay Academy explains how to buy and sell nearly anything on eBay. "In just three short hours attendees will be buying and selling like experts." The seminar includes custom classroom materials developed by McGraw-Hill/Osborne, publisher of "How to Do Everything with eBay," by Greg Holden and "eBay QuickSteps," by Carole Matthews. The cost is $39.95 ($60 at the door).

eBay Business School is a day-long seminar in which "attendees gain the skills to immediately start profiting on eBay, even if they have never sold online before." The cost is $69.95 ($100 at the door).

Scott Rogers, VP & Associate Publisher at McGraw-Hill/Osborne, said, "At McGraw-Hill, we have always taken great pride in being an innovator in the global education market. Our unique relationship with eKI will allow us to bring our best selling books to life and help individuals and small businesses lean to use the full power of eBay."
