Et Cetera: eBay Seller Alert; Zoovy Glitch; eBay UK Search Change

eBay announced it will remove some non-PayPal payment methods from the listing process, and warned sellers to take action if using listing tools. "If you use a listing tool, you will need to de-select these payment methods before uploading your listings to eBay." eBay will no longer support the "Other Online Payment Methods" and "Cash on Delivery (COD)" payment methods in the Sell Your Item form or in its listing tools. eBay said those payment methods "are infrequently selected by sellers during the listing process, or by buyers in checkout. Removing these payment methods will simplify the Payment Methods section of the SYI form and other listing tools."

A Zoovy customer reported that an upgrade caused havoc Thursday with sellers' auction records, causing some sellers to delay shipments while the problems were sorted out. Zoovy management did not return calls seeking comment.

eBay UK will change the Search and Browse default to show both items located and listed on the UK instead of limiting it to only items located in the UK. The announcement read in part, "This will remove the incentive for overseas sellers who list on eBay.co.uk to claim that their items are located in the UK when they are not, thus eliminating a significant source of confusion for buyers. The result of this change will be to further open up eBay.co.uk to overseas sellers. This will inevitably mean more competition for some UK sellers in some categories, so the decision has not been taken lightly. eBay appreciates that this may mean that some sellers will need to adjust their patterns of sourcing and selling and hopes that those sellers will give this urgent consideration."
