eBay Radio premiered a year ago during eBay Live! 2003 in Orlando, Florida. Broadcast around the globe by San Diego Internet radio station wsRadio.com, eBay Radio has evolved to a weekly Internet broadcast every Tuesday from 11:00 Am - 1:00 PM Pacific time. eBay Radio will air a special 3 day remote broadcast, during eBay Live! 2004, June 24-26th, from the floor of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
eBay Inc, provided Jim Griffith "Griff," The Dean of eBay Education, to host the show, which quickly became a success as one of wsRadio's lineup of fifty shows. With over 105 million registered users, eBay brought Griff to any listener with a computer that has audio capabilities. The eBay audience can listen to the show while continuing to buy and sell on eBay.
Griff is quoted as saying "Having the distinction of being eBay's first customer service representative, I know first hand how important it is to listen to and respond to the customer's needs. eBay has always given a voice to the community that has made us so successful as eBay Radio is another platform for us to communicate with them."
Listeners call the station's toll-free number (888-327-0061) or send emails to ask Griff questions about eBay: what works, how to get started and the numerous "tricks-of-the-trade." Griff also features eBay executives and "eBay Powersellers," those who sell a minimum of $1000 a month on eBay; who love to share their stories and strategies.
wsRadio's Program Director and veteran broadcaster Lee Mirabal produces the eBay News feature for each show, as well as overseeing the 50 talk shows in the wsRadio lineup. The station has over 1 million listeners monthly who can also choose to listen via archives. "It's radio on demand," says Mirabal. The demand is obviously growing for shows that discuss everything from business, health, nature, pets and personal growth. The Internet radio format is reaching critical mass, as U.S. News and World Reports and the New York Times proclaimed in recent articles.
