The eBay Elite group of powersellers changed its name two weeks ago to the Professional eBay Sellers Alliance. The group was formed on the eBay Groups discussion boards last year and has grown to over 500 members.
Joe Cortese of NobleSpirit founded the group and said the new name "more closely reflects the nature of the group and the opportunities of the group going forward."
There was some internal disagreement over the name and direction of the group, but on Friday, Cortese announced consensus had been reached. The group will be officially incorporated and will become a non-profit organization as a trade association. The initial Board of Directors will be composed of Joe Cortese, Barry Anderson and Jonathan Garriss. At the next Summit in the Fall, the members will elect a fourth Director to serve on the Board, followed six months later by another election for a fifth Director.
The Professional eBay Sellers Alliance is a private independent group comprised of high-revenue, high-volume, eBay sellers. The group held its first summit in New York in May, where roundtable discussions included the topic of a name change as well as issues of concern to eBay sellers, like feedback and fees. The group also exhibited at the eBay Live annual conference in New Orleans last month. Membership in the Professional eBay Sellers Alliance is open to Titanium or Platinum powersellers with a minimum of 1 year active selling on eBay platform and a 98% positive feedback rating.
