Reading AuctionBytes: LiveDeal Hires Former eBay Director of Product Development

LiveDeal.com has hired Ajay Bansal, formerly Director of Product Development at eBay, as Vice President of Engineering. Bansal will be responsible for the organization, development, maintenance and operations of the LiveDeal Web site.

"Bansal has been responsible for all the critical components of a major e-commerce site and knows how to build a stable and extremely scalable e-commerce platform," said Rajesh Navar, LiveDeal CEO and Founder. "With LiveDeal's half million users monthly today and our projected growth ahead, Ajay’s experience will help us meet the demands of our growing online buy and sell user base."

"It's the LiveDeal business model that lured me onboard," said Bansal. "In less than 12 months, LiveDeal has defined the concept of local marketplace, quickly becoming one of the leading buy and sell sites on the Internet."

Prior to eBay, Bansal was the Senior Director of Engineering at Quova, Inc., a Web site geolocation service company that provided Internet infrastructure intelligence to e-commerce sites. In mid-1995, he founded Atlanta based Datum Technologies, a provider of Software Design and Services to Fortune 500 Companies. Bansal is an engineer with a patent for estimating a geographic location of a networked entity.
