eBay announced it will make a few "technology changes" to change how some of the text on various eBay pages appears, saying the changes will help visitors download pages more quickly. It will also increase many of the smaller font sizes by one level to help make the pages easier to read. The changes will only effect eBay-generated next and will not affect text provided by members, such as the item descriptions or About Me pages.

In mid-July, users had noticed that eBay chat boards began displaying text in an extra small font after eBay made changes to the way item description area of the view item page displays ("View Item Optimization"), and the problem spread to users' auction descriptions.
