eBay is rolling out "Buyer Management - Buyer Block Preferences," a new feature that allows sellers to have more control over who can bid on their listings. The feature is designed to help eBay sellers reduce deadbeat bidders and post-transaction issues.
Sellers will be able to turn on Buyer Management by modifying the "Buyer Block Preferences" area in the Seller Preferences section of My eBay. Sellers will be able to use Buyer Management to block three types of buyers: buyers from specified countries; buyers with a net negative feedback score; and buyers with two Unpaid Item strikes in the past 30 days.
Sellers can choose whether to apply any combination of the three blocks to their listings, which will take effect on any items listed after the block is turned on. Buyers who have been blocked by the seller will see a message showing the reason why their bid has been blocked.
Sellers can make exceptions by adding specific buyers to their Buyer Block Exemption List. For example, if a buyer tries to bid on an item and gets blocked, they can contact the seller to request permission to bid. If the seller agrees, they can add the buyer to their Exemption List so that the blocks will not apply for that buyer.
