Reading AuctionBytes: eBay Makes It Easier to Find Consignment Sellers
eBay has improved its database of consignment sellers, called "Trading Assistants," to make it easier for users to find them by location and specialties. Trading Assistants are experienced eBay sellers that sell on behalf of others.
Users looking for consignment sellers use the Trading Assistants directory (http://www.ebay.com/ta ) to search by location using zip code. Using Advanced Search, users can further narrow the search results.
With the recent enhancements, eBay said there are 3 primary new benefits for Trading Assistants:
- TAs offering "pick up" or "drop off" services can provide their open hours and location address for drop off stores, and be easily searched for by clients.
- TAs that specialize in selling areas such as charity, government surplus, and motor vehicles can indicate that and be found by clients looking for that expertise.
- TAs can specify deeper category specialization. TAs can still specialize in up to 3 top-level categories, and can now select up to 5 additional second-level categories (for example, Golf or Bowling under Sporting Goods, or Agriculture or Metalworking under Business and Industrial).
To register as an eBay Trading Assistant, users must have 50 feedback, 98% positive feedback, and 4 listings in the last month.
Trading Assistants who provide drop off locations where customers can bring items to them can also sign up to become Trading Posts. Trading Posts must have at least 500 feedback, 98% positive feedback, and at least $25,000 in monthly sales on eBay. Trading Posts enjoy all the benefits of Trading Assistants, with two additional benefits: permission to use the Trading Post for eBay logo on their storefront, and greater visibility in the TA directory for customers looking for drop off locations. Clients will be able to search for Trading Posts in mid-September.
