eBay is holding a listing-fee sale on auction-style listings on eBay.com., eBay Canada and eBay Motors for one day. The sale will take place Tuesday, August 31 and applies only to auction-style listings, but not those with Buy-It-Now upgrades. For auction-style listings, including Dutch listings, the insertion fee will be 50% off the regular price. For auction-style listings with the Buy-It-Now listing upgrade, the listing upgrade fee will be charged at the regular price. The sale does not apply to Fixed Price, Motors vehicles, International, Live Auction, Ad format, Professional Services, and Stores Inventory listings. All other fees apply, see Web site for details and further restrictions.

The promotion is being held to celebrate eBay's 9-year anniversary. Founder Pierre Omidyar launched the site on Labor Day 1995. The page describing Tuesday's promotion includes an image of eBay's home page when it launched, when it was called Auction Web.

Finally, eBay announced a referral program where members can receive 500 eBay Anything Points for each new buyer referred to eBay. Members can refer up to 10 people every 30 days and earn up to 5,000 Points per month. The person referred receives 500 points. Restrictions apply.
