National Public Radio Turns to Online Auctions for Fundraising
By Ina Steiner AuctionBytes.com September 20, 2004
National Public Radio (NPR) is conducting a pilot project with 25 participating member stations to test online-auction fundraising. The NPR National Online Auction will attempt to tap new revenue streams without interrupting programming. Participants hope to raise over $1 million to be shared equally among the stations. From September 14 - 21, NPR and participating stations will offer listeners nationwide thousands of items. Of the almost 2,000 packages offered, highlights include:
Trips to Washington, D.C., to watch live broadcasts of NPR's Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Talk of the Nation, and Weekend Edition Saturday and Sunday.
Travel packages to dozens of destinations worldwide, including Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico.
A backstage tour of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.
Kruse and Partners is producing the auction, using Auction Anything as the platform provider.
