Matchifieds.com announced the launch of a free classifieds marketplace in New York City, with plans to expand to other cities. Matchifieds.com is a classified resource for those both seeking and offering merchandise and services ranging from real estate, jobs, networking events, relationships, to business opportunities.
Founder Lala Wang got the idea for Matchifieds a year ago. Wang has been in the real estate service market for 10 years, according to Pia Chon, Matchifieds Vice President of Marketing.
Chon said Matchifieds' Smart Engine, a search and field search capability that delivers targeted information to the searcher, makes the site more proactive than Craigslist (a local classifieds site in which eBay recently acquired a 25% stake).
Chon said the site is free, and featured advertising is in the works.
