Digital River has launched a new online store on eBay as the auction site's first pre-approved seller of downloadable software. Digital River bills itself as a "global leader in ecommerce outsourcing that builds and manages online businesses for more than 40,000 software publishers and online retailers."
Digital River sells utilities, business applications, productivity tools, and digital imaging and security software. The company's eBay store is part of a pilot program to test the opportunity of offering downloadable software on eBay's site. eBay began another pilot program to test music downloads in July.
Digital River sells under the User ID Softdownload, which was created in April 2004, and began selling in May. It has 175 positive feedback points from 169 unique users.
