Ethical Technologies Launches eBay Tools

Ethical Technologies launched its first eBay-management tools on Thursday. Included with the initial software rollout over the next week are payment timers that allow sellers to anticipate how quickly a bidder will pay, and a "thank you" tool that will acknowledge a prospective customer's bid.

The company said it offers custom-designed tools based on individualized user needs. Third parties who co-design tools that Ethical Technologies agrees to develop and market will receive credit and a sliding scale revenue share based on tool adoption.

The first such co-designer is eBay seller "jayandmarie," renowned for their unprecedented achievement of a 200,000 feedback score this week. Jay and Marie Senese co-designed Ethical's scheduler and relister.

Company founder and CEO Scott Samuel previously founded Honesty.com, creator of free eBay counters, in the late 1990s. He sold Honesty to Andale in 2000. Samuel reentered the online auction space with Ethical Technologies earlier this year.

"We're really excited about what's taken place over the last few months, not just here at Ethical, but in the person-to-person e-commerce space," said Samuel. "People are working together on an unprecedented level."

Ethical's tools are available singly or in a customized product package, with the basic one-page lister, a tool targeted at new and mid-level sellers. Ethical is currently developing additional ecommerce tools to be available with the next release and will roll out tools individually over the next week.
