eBay Motors said it will no longer offer the ability for sellers to create listings with a 1-day duration. The announcement read in part, "The Community has indicated that this feature does not meet their business needs in terms of efficiency and effectiveness. We have decided to retire this feature immediately." eBay Motors sellers will still have the option to list with a duration of 3, 5, 7 or 10 days. http://www2.ebay.com:80/aw/marketing.shtml#2004-10-28092712
eBay is also rolling out a bid-display enhancement across all categories. In June, eBay began a pilot program on eBay Motors to "make important information more clear to buyers during the Bid and Buy It Now process" (http://pics.ebay.com/aw/pics/commdev/Bid_Motors_accessories.jpg). When a buyer goes to bid or buy an item, they must be signed in, and they will see payment methods and shipping & handling terms.
The new bid-display is intended to remind buyers about the details of the transaction before they commit to bid or buy. In August, eBay expanded the program from eBay Motors exclusively to the Car Electronics and Hair Care categories. This week they are rolling out the bid-display enhancement across all eBay.com and eBay Motors categories.
