eBay increased commissions for its eBay Affiliate Program effective November 1, 2004. Affiliates will receive increased payments for sending new users who register to eBay. The referral fees increases from a range of $10 - $20 to a range of $12 - $30, depending on level of activity.
In July, eBay launched a program allowing affiliates into its Developer Program by creating an "affiliate tier." Affiliates can use eBay technology to analyze how best to drive traffic to eBay using their affiliate codes. A spokesperson said the API "gives affiliates more efficient access to the nearly 30MM listings offered across eBay’s 50,000+ categories and this enables affiliates to access real-time product and pricing information, which has been shown to significantly increase their businesses."
eBay claims its top 100 affiliates average nearly $25,000 in commissions each month. The eBay Affiliate Program is administered by Commission Junction.
