An unhappy seller on eBay's Spanish site urged other users to go on strike to demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the auction site. The seller, using the ID disco.hobby, posted a note on the eBay discussion boards on November 11. Users continue to respond with strategies on how to make eBay pay attention to the concerns of its users.
Last year, sellers on eBay France went on strike when eBay France announced it would raise its fees in January 2004. Many complained that the fees were unjustified, at least until eBay addressed seller concerns over non-paying bidders and fraud.
A seller posted on the eBay boards in the U.S. about the current strike in Spain and received many messages of support. The seller said one concern is that customer service for eBay Spain is located in Germany. A U.S. user replied, "Although it is frustrating to have customer service located in another country, it might as well be on another planet. Ebay's customer service is lousy wherever you live." The poster added, "Your list of complaints in Spain are basically the same complaints many of us have here in the U.S."
Other concerns were involved fraud and non-paying bidders.
The Spanish seller said the strike is a success, and many Spanish eBayers are joining the strike.
