eBay will make changes to its forthcoming "Item Not Received" process, it announced on Thursday.
The new process will launch in January as a tool to help buyers and sellers resolve disputes. But initial reaction from sellers was negative http://auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y04/m11/i22/s02.
Thursday's announcement said buyers will be able to initiate the Item Not Received process 10 days after the listing ends instead of 7 days as initially announced. Currently buyers must wait 30 days before filing a claim, which sellers say is more reasonable, giving them time to receive payment from buyers, send out the item, and account for delivery time.
eBay also said in its initial announcement that buyers would be able to file an eBay Standard Purchase Protection Program claim 17 days after the end of a listing. Thursday's announcement said instead it will keep the timeline to 30 days, as it currently exists.
eBay also said it will integrate more buyer education into the process.
