For the person on your holiday shopping list who has everything, there are always rare or unusual items available on online auction sites! From Donald Trump and Lamborghinis to Beatles memorabilia and Survivor props, a variety of items are available on auction sites that can help you with your shopping dilemma.
Bid4Assets.com has a 2001 Lamborghini Diablo on the auction block. The car was forfeited to the U.S. Marshals Service with 13,201 miles and a starting bid of $65,000. The auction closes December 15, 2004 (http://www.bid4assets.com/USMS). And if you don't win that one, a 1997 Lamborghini Diablo Roadster will go on the auction block January 11-13, 2005.
Slightly less expensive with a bid of $52,000 as of Monday is a Beatles at Shea Stadium in 1966 poster, which is part of ItsOnlyRocknRoll.com's "Rock, Pop, Elvis & The Beatles" auction ending Wednesday. A similar poster achieved a price of $71,000 at auction last year. The auction includes over 200 lots of Beatles memorabilia, nearly 200 lots of Elvis-related collectibles, and more (http://www.itsonlyrocknroll.com).
For TV fans, two auction events are sure to please. Donald Trump, star of TV's "The Apprentice" autographed a "one-of-a-kind" Cabbage Patch Kid in his likeness. The toy is currently on auction on eBay with the proceeds going to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=243&item=5542885652).
And the TV program Survivor: Vanuatu has partnered with the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation to offer exclusive props and memorabilia from the show on eBay. The charity listings will run on eBay from December 12 through December 26 (http://www.survivor-auction.com).
In addition to the glitzy or promotional, online auction sites are great places to pick up handmade and handcrafted items, collectibles and "preowned" goodies.
Don't worry if you don't get it right. If the recipient of your gift doesn't like it, they can always sell it on an auction site!
