Google Launches Slew of Froogle Features for Shoppers

Google announced a new Shopping List feature on its Froogle shopping search engine. The new feature allows users to save information about products found on Froogle. A new Wish List feature allows users to share lists with family and friends. http://www.google.com/shoppinglist

Shopping Lists are private, but Wish Lists are visible to anyone who searches for your email address on Froogle.

If you find a product listing on Froogle you want to save for future reference, click on "Add to list" and you'll be able to bring it up again quickly. (Users must first create a Google account if they haven't already). You can add notes and sort products by price, title and the date they were added to your list. The Shopping List is stored online at Froogle so you can access it from any computer.

If you want to share items on your list, you can create a Wish List that's accessible to others. Just check the "In Wish List" checkbox next to the item. Your Wish List is the public part of your Shopping List and will be accessible to anyone who searches for your email address on the Froogle Shopping List homepage. You can also email the URL with your Wish List to others.

First introduced in December 2002, Froogle competes with other shopping search engines including Shopping.com, Bizrate and Yahoo Shopping. Google added the "Froogle" link to its main page in March of this year.

Froogle also announced it has launched Froogle DE in Germany at http://froogle.google.de (click "Erweiterte Suche" ("Advanced Search") on the Google DE home page.) Merchants who wish to be included in Froogle DE are now invited to submit feeds for their German stores.

Froogle has also gone wireless. If your cell phone supports the WML wireless protocol, you can use Froogle to search for products anywhere your phone can access the web. You must be subscribed to a wireless web service provider specifically tailored for mobile phones in order to use this service.

To use Froogle on your cell phone, just point your phone's browser to http://wml.froogle.com. Enter your search terms in the box and select the "Search" button. Then you can use your phone's keypad arrows to scroll through the results.

Finally, Froogle said it has added a product ratings feature. Froogle Product Ratings consist of an aggregate ratings score and snippets of customer reviews from third party sites (e.g., NexTag, Epinions, etc.).
