Overstock.com's new online auction site will hold a Free Listing Day on December 26. The announcement came as sellers wondered whether competitor eBay would hold a Free Listing Day on the 26, which they have done for the last several years. However, eBay only gives sellers a few hours notice before holding a Free Listing Day on its site, so sellers can't be sure there will be one this year.
Overstock Auctions said its Free Listing Day promotion will begin at 12:01 am EST on 12/26/2004 and lasts until 11:59 pm PST 12/26/2004, extending it 3 hours "to give everyone in the U.S. a 24 hour window."
The promotion applies to the insertion fees only. Sellers will remain responsible for reserve fees, any upgrade fees and closing fees associated with all auctions listed during the free listing period. The insertion fee for listing an item in a second category is free, but all other fees are doubled when listing in a second category.
Free Listing Day does not apply to Real Estate Auctions. See Web site for details and restrictions.
