eBay's Senior Vice President of Technology will step down after 5 years with the company, and eBay named his successor on Monday.
Chris Corrado will replace Marty Abbott. Corrado was named eBay's Senior Vice President and Corporate Chief Technology Officer reporting to Chief Operating Officer Maynard Webb.
No reason was given for the departure of Abbott, who spoke about his role at eBay in an interview in eWeek last August (http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1640234,00.asp). Chris Hjelm, Senior Vice President of Technology before Abbot, left eBay two years ago after only a year at the company.
eBay said Abbott and Corrado will work together over the next several months to ensure a smooth transition.
Corrado comes to eBay from AT&T Wireless, where he was Chief Information Officer and Executive Vice President. He will manage eBay's site operations, information technology, and security.
