An eBay drop-off store reported it has filed for bankruptcy. A notice on the store's Website reads, "Due to circumstances beyond our control, Door to Door Auctions Inc. has been forced to close its business and is in the process of filing Bankruptcy." The eBay User ID doortodoorauctions was "not a registered user" (NARU) last week. The business was headquartered in San Mateo, California, and reportedly used independent contractors around the country and sold franchises. There is some discussion on the eBay boards about the service.

Chris Boatman, a 24 year old graduate, started QuickList from a storage locker in June 2004. Using a marine battery for the photography lighting and a $10 blanket for a backdrop, Boatman began accepting and selling items on consignment. Within 4 months, he was able to lease a prime storefront in Redlands, CA. He also leased a warehouse for processing the increasing volume of items.

Although QuickList has only two drop-off locations at this time, Boatman plans to expand to the Riverside and Rancho Cucamonga areas in the near future. As a small startup company, Boatman believes he can focus on a higher level of customer service that some of the larger franchise companies may lack. He aspires to be the dominant trading assistant in the Inland Empire region of Southern California.
