eBay will now donate all fees when a seller donates 100% of an item's final sale price to a certified nonprofit. eBay will also integrate eBay Giving Works into eBay's Sell Your Item (SYI) form.
Through the eBay Giving Works platform, launched in November 2003, eBay members are able to list items on the site and donate 10-100% of the final sale price to a certified nonprofit organization. Nonprofit members of the program are also able to list items directly on eBay to raise funds. All Giving Works items are distinguished in the eBay Marketplace, and buyers have additional ways to search for and find listings that benefit a cause.
eBay will make a donation equivalent to all selling fees (insertion and final value fees) when a seller donates 100% of an item's final sale price to a certified nonprofit member of the eBay Giving Works program. eBay's donation will be added to the listing's proceeds benefiting the seller's chosen charity. Additionally, when nonprofits list items on their own behalf, eBay will make the same donation of selling fees to the organization.
eBay said since 2000, more than $40 million has been raised for nonprofit organizations through listings on the eBay Marketplace. eBay Giving Works is powered by MissionFish, a service of the Points of Light Foundation.
