Shopping.com has launched in France. Shopping.com gathers product and merchant data from across the Internet, organizes and structures it into a searchable catalog. With Shopping.com in France, consumers can compare offers across borders, with the site automatically managing currency and language conversions and calculating the cost of shipping.
Shopping.com said it has secured some of the largest and most well-known French retailers for the site in hundreds of categories, ranging from children's car seats to mobile phones.
Shopping.com's launch in France builds on the success of the company's UK operation during the past four years. International expansion is a critical element to the company's continued momentum, with more than $1million in the first quarter and approximately $8-$10 million for the full year of 2005 being invested in overseas expansion.
Shopping.com says it is the third most visited online retail site in the U.S. behind eBay and Amazon, with approximately 20 million unique visitors each month, according to comScore Media Metrix. Shopping.com was launched in 2003 as the new brand and corporate identity of Dealtime.com, founded in 1997, and Epinions.com, founded in 1999.
