eBay Storeowners will now be able to get toll-free phone customer-support as of April 1. Phone support will be available Monday through Friday, from 6am to 6pm Pacific Time. The toll-free number is listed in the Manage Your Store section of My eBay.
eBay had announced it would improve customer service in February (http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y05/m02/i07/s01). In addition to promising it would get rid of canned email responses to all customer service inquiries, eBay said it would extend phone support to Stores. Prior to April 1, phone support was only available to Silver, Gold, Platinum and Titanium PowerSellers.
February's announcement came in the form of a personal note from North American President Bill Cobb. Personalizing announcements on the eBay Announcement Board has become common since then, with pictures sometimes appearing beside the eBay employee making the post. Friday's announcement about phone support came from Chris Tsakalakis, Senior Director of eBay Stores.
