eBay is changing its Giving Works program for charity auctions, according to its partner MissionFish. eBay's program was initially launched in November 2003. According to MissionFish, eBay is taking the best parts of MissionFish and eBay and putting them together in a major upgrade for eBay Giving Works effective April 27.
Sellers will be able to list eBay Giving Works items using eBay's Sell Your Item (SYI) process instead of listing them through MissionFish, and will be able to manage them through My eBay.
eBay recently changed its policy on fees, which sellers must pay even on charity auctions. Now, eBay donates insertion and final value fees to the nonprofit if the seller donates 100 percent of their final sale price to the charity.
MissionFish said its site will be offline from April 23-26 as a result of the upgrade. Any listings live on eBay during that time will be unaffected, and all donation data will be preserved, the organization said.
