eBay announced the availability of a program called Business Equipment Purchase Protection for items bought in selected capital equipment categories in the U.S. The new program is free to buyers and sellers and protects buyers for up to $20,000 for qualified purchases of $1,000 or more.
eBay's Business Equipment Purchase Protection program covers capital-equipment buyers against deliberate and material misrepresentation by the seller when items are bought and sold on eBay, including items not received or items that have undisclosed damages or liens.
The insurance only covers cases of deliberate fraud by the seller, not wear and tear, nor items damaged or lost in shipping. Only certain categories are covered, see website for details and restrictions.
There is no charge to sellers and the coverage is automatic. The Business Equipment Purchase Protection seal will begin appearing on qualified listings immediately.
