The cable TV network Discovery Channel has a new series called Pop Nation: America's Coolest Stuff that mixes pop-culture, appraisals and eBay. In the course of eight one-hour programs and culminating in a grand finale, collectors get their pop-culture item appraised by the show's experts. They then face the choice of keeping the item, selling to an independent buyer, or selling on eBay through QuikDrop, an eBay drop-off store franchise.
The show will invite collectors to bring items to convention centers in Texas, California and Oregon this summer, and the show will begin airing in October. The Pop Nation finale will showcase the highest-priced items, the thrill of buyers who've added the missing piece to their collection, and sellers "celebrating with more cash than they ever imagined."
