Reading AuctionBytes: Online Fraudster Sentenced to 10 Years, Must Pay $1.8 Million to Victims

A judge sentenced Todd Wilson Short on Friday to 10 years in prison and ordered him to pay $1.8 million in restitution to his victims, according to the Ashville Citizen-Times website. Short, the proprietor of J.C. Morris, had pled guilty to fraud on April 21, 2004.

AuctionBytes reported on this case in 2003 when we wrote about Dale Peterson, a victim who bought a laptop from J.C. Morris & Co through a Yahoo Store and said he never received the computer or a refund. Peterson proceeded to research the company and created a website devoted to exposing Short, who used eBay as well as other online sites. (http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y03/m05/i19/s03)
