eBay Drop-off Store eXsellera Up For Sale

eXsellera, an eBay drop-off store and eBay Platinium PowerSeller, is for sale in Madison, Wisconsin. Owner Jim Rice said, "We completed our one year market test with nearly 1,500 transactions and have drawn two conclusions. First, there is tremendous pull for e-consignment services and the use of eBay as an effective sales channel. And, secondly, achieving profitability in a 1,700 square foot store front is difficult if not impossible to achieve."

In February of this year, eXsellera pulled its private placement for $1.5 million. "The angel and venture capital markets were a dry well late last year," Mr. Rice continued. "Absent financing, we are unable to expand to 5,000 sq. ft. and implement the IT and process improvements necessary to take the company to the next level to achieve profitability."

eXsellera said it continues to explore partnership opportunities and investments from major companies who would benefit from implementing eXsellera's methods for inventory life-cycle management by employing eBay as a sales channel.

Rice said the entire company is for sale. When asked if he would be staying with the company, he said he would be willing to stay on under the right circumstances. "Regardless," he said, "I would help the buyer fully understand the operations before leaving."

Rice said buying his business is a "great alternative to a franchise in this rapidly growing business. Own it 100 percent. No franchise fees."

Assets of the business include a lease on a 1,700 sq. foot processing facility and storefront, 270 customers with significant repeat business, a solid commercial clientele, a truck, computers, printers, cameras and more.

eXsellera opened its doors in March 2004 and achieved Gross Merchandise Sales of $162,000; 2005 Year-to-date Gross Merchandise Sales are $120,000. Interested parties should contact Jim Rice at JimRice@eXsellera.com.
