eBay and its competitors, including Alibaba, are profiled in a new report on ecommerce in China released by Pacific Epoch this month. According to the report:

  • eBay Eachnet has 11 million registered users, Taobao has 7.3 million.

  • eBay had first quarter total transaction value of US$100 million, Taobao had US$200 million in total transaction value.

  • Paypal was launched in mid July in China; Taobao's payment tool Alipay was launched two years ago and now has 2.4 million registered users.

Titled "China's e-Commerce Industry," the report details the current state of ecommerce in China and forecasts future industry growth. The report assesses the prospects of major players as well as promising companies that may impact the market.

Pacific Epoch is a boutique media and business intelligence firm focusing on technology, media, and telecommunications investment opportunities in China. The report can be purchased for $688 on the Pacific Epoch website.
