eBay's PayPal unit has launched a set of "Identity Theft Protection" educational resources aimed at helping users protect their identity. PayPal and eBay are among many websites spoofed by fraudulent "phishing" emails.

The new resource features tips, including a printable checklist of steps that should be taken to help prevent identity theft; a guide for determining how to spot a fake email or Web site; and recommended tools for protection from fraudulent emails and Websites, including eBay's free Toolbar and Cloudmark's SafetyBar.

eBay will host an online workshop on identity-protection on August 4 at 11 PDT.
