A developer of online marketing technologies called Quigo has hired two executives formerly responsible for technology at eBay and PayPal. Quigo Technologies has hired Marty Abbott, former Senior Vice President of Technology at eBay Inc., and Michael Fisher Vice President, Engineering & Architecture for PayPal.
Quigo developed AdSonar Exchange, a content-targeted advertising marketplace for advertisers and Web publishers, and FeedPoint, a search-engine marketing solution for advertisers. AdSonar is a contextual-based advertising program similar to Google's AdSense program, which is facing increasing competition from other major Internet players (see today's article http://auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y05/m08/i04/s03).
No reason was given for the departure of Abbott from eBay back in January of this year. Chris Corrado replaced Abbot at eBay.
Quigo also hired Michael Fisher, formerly Vice President of Engineering & Architecture for PayPal. Abbott and Fisher share a common alma mater: both received Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science from the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York.
Abbott is Quigo's new Chief Operating Officer, and Fisher is the company's new Vice President of Technology and Chief Information Officer. Quigo is based in New York City.
