Yahoo Auctions announced it has expanded listing titles to 55 characters. Previously there was a 50-character limit for titles. Yahoo sorts search results into three sections:

• By Category: If your keyword matches a category, you'll see a link to the category.
  
• By Title: Auctions that contain your keywords in their titles will be listed.
  
• By Description: Auctions that match your keywords in their descriptions will be listed.
  

eBay expanded its title capacity from 45 characters to 55 characters in February of 2004, but users must check a box when searching to get results where the search term is in the title and description.
