eBay Will Honor Newspaper Coupon Issued as Test

eBay users have been circulating the link to an eBay promotion that was supposed to be available only to certain newspaper readers. But a link to the promotion was sent out in TagNotes, Yahoo Groups mailings and was mentioned in Barbara Crew's About.com email newsletter on collectibles.

The coupon gives recipients a one-time 10 percent discount that can be redeemed on certain items if they follow the rules, including paying for the item with PayPal.

eBay spokesperson Hani Durzy said the coupon was a free-standing insert in newspapers and was part of a test. Promotions to buyers are nothing new and fits in with eBay's goals of driving more buyers to the site, he said. Durzy said as long as users follow the promotion guidelines, eBay will honor the coupon.
