eBay announced Monday a new feature called eBay Reviews & Guides. Users will be able to see what other people have said about products on eBay, or write their own reviews.
The Reviews feature will first be available in categories that have Pre-Fill Item Information (also known as Item Specifics). These categorise include Books, Movies, Cell Phones, Music, Digital Cameras, Games, Golf Clubs, PDAs, and Video Games categories. Just like Amazon's review feature, other users can vote on the helpfulness of product reviews, with the most popular reviews reaching "Top Review" status.
In addition, eBay will now allow users to write guides about almost anything they want and include extra information like pictures and links within eBay. "Similar to reviews, readers can search for guides on a certain topic area, and vote on whether they found it helpful. Plus, guides that are written by eBay (many of which have been able on the site for some time) will also be included here, marked with the eBay logo."
Members who write Reviews & Guides can find theirs in My eBay, and can edit them at any time. Top writers will receive distinct Reviews & Guides logos.
