eBay launched its new ad campaign for the 2005 holiday shopping season on October 20. The ads can be seen online.

Teaser ads ran in the days leading up to the official launch where the ads were not identified as being from eBay. Those ads featured two young entrepreneurs who created a lot of buzz for their product, called "it." On October 20, the tagline was revealed: "Whatever it is, you can get it on eBay."

According to eBay, the campaign is designed to "attract buyers by celebrating the extremely wide range of great things you can buy on eBay, just in time for the holiday shopping season." The ad will run during Monday Night Football, Desperate Housewives, Lost and Alias, and during the World Series. Print ads will appear next month in magazines, including People, Time, Oprah and Rolling Stone.

eBay had selected BBDO its marketing agency of record in the U.S. in the Spring. (http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y05/m04/i01/s03). BBDO is providing services across all parts of eBay's marketing operations, including Internet marketing, direct marketing, and print and television advertising.
