CityXpress Corp. announced the success of its first two event auctions in Australia. CityXpress works with newspapers in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australasia to stage online marketplaces through its hosted software and on-site sales and customer support services.

Community Newspaper Group in Perth and Life Gold Coast on the Gold Coast, Queensland conducted their first auctions last month. Both events attracted strong bidder participation from their communities and proved successful in generating new income and new advertisers for each newspaper, according to CityXpress.

Community Newspaper Group's BidNSave auction recorded one of the largest numbers of bidders ever to register for a CityXpress event auction, with 6,820 bidders. The Perth auction sold more than 90 percent of its products. Life Gold Coast, published by the Executive Publishing Network, sold 76.4 percent of the products available for bidding.

"The success of the first auctions in Australia confirms what CityXpress has always believed - that our event auctions work for newspapers of all sizes and in all markets," said Phil Dubois, CEO of CityXpress Corp.
