Andale customers could not use the company's service over the weekend due to a site outage. According to Andale Senior Vice President of Customer Operations Dan Russo, the problem was due to a bug in third-party vendor software.
Russo said Andale has been working closely with the vendor to recover the data and has made great progress. "However," Russo said, "this process continues and requires more time as we want to make sure we do not have another interruption once we're back up. The latest status I have from the operations team is that we expect to be back up by midnight Sunday."
When asked about Andale's outage policy, Russo said, "Our focus right now is getting the site back up of course. Next week we will provide a "make good" to our customers or provide credits to accounts as is appropriate depending on the customer situation and the impact."
One distraught AuctionBytes reader wrote to say his auctions were not launched to eBay on Friday because of the Andale outage and said, "Prorated refunds aren't going to help at this point."
Update: The Andale website displayed a message Monday morning, "The site will be up soon, we are continuing to run diagnostics to make sure that everything is running correctly." (October 31, 10:50 am ET)
