Asked for an update on the status of the Andale outage on Wednesday afternoon, the company's Senior Vice President of Customer Operations Dan Russo sent a statement he said they would be releasing shortly.
In it, Russo explained that the technical difficulties that resulted in a website outage on Friday night were due to a bug in the vendor vendor software that it utilizes for its database. As of Wednesday morning, many of the database issues had been resolved, he said, and they continue to work with eBay and consultants from Oracle to fix the outstanding issues.
"We have retrieved and made available 96%+ of the data in the ad archive. We continue to work on recovering the other data, in batches; this remains our highest priority. Users can now use the ads in their archive and launch their items from the One Step Lister and Lister Pro. Users should also be able to create and launch new items. The Andale Checkout will process for the new items that are listed and buyers should be able to make payment through us."
Russo's statement said Checkout redirect would be turned off for items that were listed prior to the outage on Friday at 9PM PST and which have closed since then, since Andale Checkout will not work for these items. He said buyers would be able to make payment by going through eBay or PayPal. He also said Andale Checkout should now work for all newly listed items.
The outage has affected Andale's Checkout feature and sellers' ability to launch auctions since Friday.
Andale's statement concluded, "Andale understands the impact this interruption of service has caused to your business and would like to reassure you that we are doing our best to restore services soon. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."
